J WINTHUYSEN AND THE FIGURE
In MEMOIRS OF A SEVILLIAN MASTER, 2008, JW tells how he became proficient at figure drawing at the Art School in Sevilla and later with his Painter Masters.
In Sevilla churches were full of religious images based on human figures like the ones painted by Bartolome Esteban Murillo, XVII C Barroque Painter. Winthuysen chose to follow El GRECO in color and figure ellongation.
