The Winthuysen Foundation - Famous Landscape Painters

We at The Winthuysen Foundation are currently preparing a catalog, arranged by collections of Javier de Winthuysen's Barcelona paintings. This catalog will be available at a future time, so keep checking back with us. We have already made available books, CD's, and DVD's of his works.

The Winthuysen Foundation is a not for profit organization dedicated to protect and disseminate the works by the Spanish environmental painter and architect of literary landscapes Javier de Winthuysen y Losada.

Javier de Winthuysen was born in Seville in 1874. He matured amongst the cultural influences of his time and locale, namely of Moorish, European, Jewish and Christian influences. His exposure to this climate of cultures impacted his paintings. Throughout his career, his sensibilities tended toward landscapes. He maintained a closeness to the land of his nativity, never embracing a notion to depart from it. For this, it is of no surprise that his main works as one of the famous landscape painters of his era concern his environs, complemented by his unique approach, which corresponded to his peaceful outlook on life.

Winthuysen finished writing his memoirs in 1953. He passed away in 1956, Barcelona. The Winthuysen Foundation published the entire Spanish typed manuscript in Maryland, USA, 2005.

Memorias de un SeƱorito Sevillano and CD's with the exhibits produced in the United States during the last 10 years are available by writing to:

WINTHUYSEN FOUNDATION, Teresa Winthuysen Alexander, in English, Spanish, Catalan, French or Italian at:
